Zeus Associates Recruiting and Staffing is recruiting for Sr. Civil Construction Inspector to for work a prestigious engineer company. This candidate will be reporting to the JFK Engineer of Construction, at the John F. Kennedy International Airport Resident Engineer’s Office in Jamaica, Queens NY. This position will be in the Construction Management and Inspection Services associated with milling/paving of Aeronautical surfaces and Non-Aeronautical pavements, utility excavation and installation (drainage, high/low pressure water mains, electrical/communication ductbanks, force main/sewer systems, etc), Structural concrete installations, grading/shaping and seeding of landscapes, outfall/tidal rehabilitation and other civil associated scopes of work.

Job Description:

Zeus Associates Recruiting and Staffing is recruiting for Sr. Civil Construction Inspector to for work a prestigious engineer company. This candidate will be reporting to the JFK Engineer of Construction, at the John F. Kennedy International Airport Resident Engineer’s Office in Jamaica, Queens NY. This position will be in the Construction Management and Inspection Services associated with milling/paving of Aeronautical surfaces and Non-Aeronautical pavements, utility excavation and installation (drainage, high/low pressure water mains, electrical/communication ductbanks, force main/sewer systems, etc), Structural concrete installations, grading/shaping and seeding of landscapes, outfall/tidal rehabilitation and other civil associated scopes of work.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, verbal communication includes contract staff, Resident Engineer, facility staff both in person and via two way communications.
  • Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work
  • Identify potential extra work issues and keep Resident Engineer advised of issues
  • Conduct progress meetings, prepare minutes and estimates of extra work
  • Prepare related sketches and documentation. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Resident Engineer.

 

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Night and weekend shifts may be required

  • Trained in fall protection, trench excavation, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 10 hr OSHA construction safety training

  • NICET Level 4, Bolting, Masonry, Concrete and Work Zone Safety Certifications

  • Trained in fall protection, trench excavation, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 10 hr OSHA construction safety training

Education:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years experience inspecting building construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift)
  • Ability to pass a SWAC Background Check at High Level
  • Valid Driver's license required
