The Community Construction Liaison will be working on a major municipal storm sanitary sewers and watermain installation project for NYC Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC).

This candidate will be working in Queens and the corporate office is in Long Island.

Job Description:

Zeus Associates Recruiting and Staffing is recruiting for a Community Construction Liaison to work for a prestigious Engineering and Architectural company. The Community Construction Liaison will be working on a major municipal storm sanitary sewers and watermain installation project for NYC Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC).

This position involves liaising and maintaining public relations between government agencies and the surrounding communities affected by the construction project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between the project management team and the community

  • Maintain the flow of information between such internal and external parties

  • Notifying communities of scheduled activities and potential impacts

  • Producing and distributing weekly and monthly reports and advisories

  • Keeping Engineers, EIC and Project Managers informed of any changes or issues that may impact community,representing the city agency at public community board meetings

  • Sending out scheduling updates for test pits and major work, including a weekly look-ahead bulletin

  • Sending out water shut off notifications

  • Sending out notifications and updates relating, but not limited to bus stop closures, detours,

    parking suspensions, night work, important meetings, street closures, equipment storage, water

    shut downs, etc.

  • Responding to emails and phone calls from the community/residents, elected officials, and city agencies - regarding complaints, questions, and concerns that relate to the project

  • Maintaining an issues log for the project, chronicling all relevant complaints, questions and concerns received from the community

  • Attending the monthly Community Board meetings

  • Attending the bi-monthly CCL meeting, this usually takes place at DDC headquarters in Long Island City

  • Perform document control

  • Must have strong communication both verbal and written including public speaking

  • Organization, and interpersonal skills and community involvement

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in accessing and using the internet

  • MS Office Professional, especially Word and Excel and communication tools

  • Preferably experience related to all phases of construction with emphasis on road, bridge, highway and water/wastewater projects

  • Ability to professionally represent client to various community groups and clients.

Education:

 

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Associates Degree preferred
